Life is (not) Beautiful

21 01 2009

Many people say “Life is Beautiful” and i bet you (and of course myself) have said that phrase before.

Of course i do believe this phrase but when i grow up, i start to questioning this phrase.

Is Life really beautiful? Or it’s just a phrase which made by people to hide the facts that life ISN’T always beautiful?

  • When you’re in love, you said “Life is beautiful”.
  • When you win a million dollar lottery, you said “Life is beautiful”.
  • When you got a beautiful girl friend (change it to handsome boy friend if you’re a girl), you said “Life is Beautiful”.
  • When you got what you want, you said “Life is beautiful”.

Life is complex. There are too many emotions involved in our lives. Happiness, Sadness, Sorrow, Glad, Depression, etc. By saying “Life is Beautiful”, you just trying to simplified a complex thing.

How come we describe all kind of human emotion and all the events which happened in our life with an adjective “Beautiful” ?.

  • If you lost your job, do you say “Life is Beautiful” ?.
  • If the one you love leaved you or died, do you say “Life is Beautiful”?.
  • If you got Cancer, do you say “Life is Beautiful”?.

Do you think Life is STILL Beautiful? Beautiful is not a perfect adjective to describe Life.

Life is Interesting.

Yeah, Life is Interesting.

  • Sometimes we have to face the same problem with different methods.
  • Sometimes we have to face different problems with same method.
  • Sometimes we have to show our emotions.
  • Sometimes we have to hide our emotions.
  • Sometimes we cry, sometimes we laughed to tears.
  • Sometimes we want to be alone, sometimes we want to be in the middle of crowd.

Life is interesting because we don’t know what will happen in the future.

One thing i sure of is : What will happen to our life is not always beautiful and I’m pretty sure that it’ll be interesting.

A cup of coffee

5 07 2008

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old University of Notre Dame lecturer. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large
pot of coffee and an assortment of cups – porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain looking
and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said:

“If you noticed, all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other’s cups.”

“Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups.
They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn’t change.”

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it.”

Life Is A Gift

5 07 2008

Got from an email…. :D

Life Is A Gift

Today before you think of saying an unkind word – Think of someone who can’t speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food – Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife – Think of someone who’s crying out to God for a companion.

Today before you complain about life – Think of someone who had a short life.

Before you complain about your children, think of someone who can only dream of having them.

Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn’t clean or sweep, think of the homeless.

Before whining about the distance you drive, think of someone who WALKS the same distance.

When you’re tired and you complain about your job, think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

Before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another, remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one Maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down, put a smile on your face and thank God you’re alive and still around to enjoy life and the beauty that surrounds us. Thank God for the family and friends who’s companies you enjoy.

Life is a gift: LIVE IT, ENJOY IT, CELEBRATE IT and FULFILL IT !!!

Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are a good person is a little like expecting the bull not to attack you because you are a vegetarian. We take life as it comes and try our very best to make the most of what we have. It is up to us to make each of our lives worse or better.

A pleasant day to all and may we all cherish today and everyday the most precious blessing that God has given us.

Cheers !!!

Value yourself

28 06 2008

Have you ever wanted to be somebody else? Maybe you don’t but most people do. And so do i. It’s a normal and common thing in the self seeking process.

There are times when i felt down and dissapointed with myself. Why he is very lucky?  Why he has a lot of friends, why this, why that… The old ‘me’ that always trying to compare myself with others. I never look at my positive side, always seeing the negative.

But as times goes by, and with some advice from my brother, i’m able to like myself more right now than before. I have realized that i also have a lot of good side that other people maybe don’t. You just have to try to value yourself.

If you want to be somebody else because they are seem so perfect in your eyes, remember,  nothing in this world is perfect.

The most perfect people you can imagine also have their flaws. The reason they seem so perfect for you, is just simply because they just showing you and everyone only their good side.

People will know and remember you because of who you are, and not because you are the copy cat of other people. If you think people will love you more if you successfully copying other, then i’m sorry to tell you that you were wrong. I would rather love the original one than the fake one.

Also you wouldn’t know if there’s someone out there that envy you and hoping that they were you! 8)

Maybe this story which i found in the internet able to help you.

You Are Unique

Enjoy that uniqueness. You do not have to pretend in order to seem more like someone else. You weren’t meant to be like someone else. You do not have to lie to conceal the parts of you that are not like what you see in anyone else.

You were meant to be different. Nowhere ever in all of history will the same things be going on in anyone’s mind, soul and spirit as are going on in yours right now.

If you did not exist, there would be a hole in creation, a gap in history, something missing from the plan for humankind. Treasure your uniqueness. It is a gift given only to you. Enjoy it and share it!

No one can reach out to others in the same way that you can. No one can speak your words. No one can convey your meanings. No one can comfort with your kind of comfort. No one can bring your kind of understanding to another person.

No one can be cheerful and lighthearted and joyous in your way. No one can smile your smile. No one else can bring the whole unique impact of you to another human being.

Share your uniqueness. Let it be free to flow out among your family and friends and people you meet in the rush and clutter of living wherever you are. That gift of yourself was given you to enjoy and share. Give yourself away!

See it! Receive it! Let it tickle you! Let it form you and nudge you and inspire you!

Good luck in your self seeking process!. :D
